RVC Coalition Partners with RVC Police for Drug Take Back Day

The gateway to prescription drug abuse by teens is often their parents or even grandparents medicine cabinet.  Prescription opioid medicine may have been useful for an adult’s back operation, or other medical treatment, but represents a dangerous entry into addiction for a curious teen.  In addition, any medication needs to be disposed of in an environmentally safe manner.  The Rockville Centre Police Department, the DEA, and in conjunction with the community organizations that make up the Rockville Centre Coalition for Youth, working to keep our community safe, and environmentally sound, hosted a drug take back day on Saturday, April 30 from 10 am to 2 pm at the RVC Police Department, at 34 Maple Avenue.  The DEA reports that it collected six boxes of drugs at 30 pounds each.
